Leave Your Heart in a San Francisco Hostel

Taking a trip in San Francisco doesn't have to cost you a load of money. During these economic times, vacationers are looking to save as much money as they can when they travel. Staying at a hostel is the best way to budget for your next trip. Most hotels can cost $100 USD or more per day. Hostels can range in price from about $30 USD per night and around $75 USD for a private room (if available). Why pay for an expensive hotel when you'll be spending your time outside enjoying everything San Francisco has to offer? Here are some other reasons why you'll want to book your next trip in a hostel.

-Hostel rooms cost a lot less so you'll have more spending money on your vacation
-Great way to meet other people from around the world that have the same interests as you
-Great information/deals on day trips, sightseeing, Alcatraz, etc.
-Most have free usage of computers, internet, and wi-fi
-Did I mention how much money you would be saving?

I Like Ike's Place

This place is it! Hands down the BEST sandwich I have ever had in my life! That's a pretty bold claim, but it's true and hundreds of people that have eaten there have said the same thing. What makes it so damn good? Maybe it's their secret Dirty Sauce or that there is over 150 different sandwiches to choose from or that they don't bake the bread for your meal until you order it. Only drawback is you'll have to wait in line to get your hands on one of their sandwiches (but it's worth it), so be sure to avoid the rush between 11:30am-2:30pm. Ike's Place is the place to be!

A View that Kills- SF's Treasure Island

People have asked me where is the best view they can see of San Francisco. A lot of people are surprised when I tell them the best view is actually not in SF, but from an island right across the way. Treasure Island is a artificial island in the Bay between San Francisco and Oakland. It's connected to the Bay Bridge and can be accessed any time of the day. The island was built for the World Fair back in 1937. Today you can visit the island, park in the visitor section, and see one of the best skylines in the world. Go there on a clear night and you'll see some breathtaking views of San Francisco. So be sure to bring your camera.

Crookedest Street in the World- Lombard

You have to actually go down Lombard street to fully appreciate it. I wouldn't want to live on that street. People from all over the world drive down there at all times of the day. Imagine trying to back your car out. Every year they have different race events on this famous street. Check out this cool video of some brave and crazy souls riding down on mini bikes.

The Sweet Taste of Fentons

In the Pixar movie 'Up', they referred to a ice cream shop called Fentons. Everyone pretty much thought it was a made up shop, but to people in the Bay Area Fentons Creamery is the place to go for ice cream. I mean just look at that huge sundae! And they just don't serve desserts, they have a full on restaurant and the food is damn good. Get yourself a great burger or their famous crab salad sandwich. Now Fentons isn't technically in San Francisco, but it's in the Bay Area and minutes across the bridge in Oakland. Fentons is a must if you're visiting SF.

I Love The Haight

Haight-Ashbury (The Haight) is one of the most famous spots in San Francisco. It was the epicenter for the hippie movement in the 60's. Even today The Haight has a style all its own. You walk around the streets and meet people from all walks of life. All the stores and restaraunts are pretty much originals and chain stores and looked down upon. Right across from The Haight is Golden Gate Park so after a day of shopping and eating you can take a stroll through one of the most scenic parks in the world. Nightlife is awesome too. Plenty of bars to get your drink on.

Craziest Race in the World

Where else can you run with world class athletes and dress like the cookie monster? Only in San Francisco's Bay to Breakers. It's SF's yearly marathon and street party. While there is a real race, the majority of the people that show up are there to just dress up and party down. Alcohol was prohibited this year, but honestly no one was watching. So if you want to participate in the crazies race on earth check out SF's Bay to Breakers.
